The following online group lessons are available for school year 2024-2025, starting in the week of September 9, 2024:


Step 2 is cancelled. If you are interested, please email me.

Step 3: Thursday 7:00pm-8:15pm EST
Step 4: Wednesday 7:00pm-8:15pm EST (FULL)
Step 4: Friday 7:00pm-8:15pm EST

Step 5: Monday 7:30pm-9:00pm EST


There are 34 lessons for the whole year. We rest on major holidays.

The full tuition for whole year (34 lesson) is $1699 for Step 2-4, $2039 for Step 5.

For Step 2-4, 
if you pay in full, $1529, due on Sept 8
if you pay in 2 installment, $799 each, due on Step 8 and Jan 15

For Step 5,
if you pay in full, $1749, due Sept 8
if you pay in 2 installment, $949 each, due on Sept 8 and Jan 15

If you sign up in the middle of the course, every class will be pro-rated with the full tuition rate.

​​Class Design:
  1. The class lasts for a year for each Step. 34 lessons are mandatory from Sept to next June, while lessons in summer are optional (not included in tuition).
  2. We assign 3-page or more homework (36 problems) every week. 
  3. All classes are recorded, and shared with registered students.
  4. We are using zoom.​​

​Requirements:
  1. ​Step 2: can finish games confidently and quickly with no illegal moves, will learn tactics, suggested USCF rating: 300 - 800, chess.com 300-1000
  2. Step 3: open to rated tournament players, suggested USCF rating: 700-1200, chess.com 900-1300
  3. Step 4: open to rated tournament players, suggested USCF rating: 1000-1500, chess.com 1200-1600
  4. Step 5: open to rated tournament players, suggested USCF rating: 1250-1750, chess.com 1400-1800
  5. Buy the required workbooks* before the class starts.
  6. Has high-speed connection at home and a microphone.
  7. Has an chess.com account. You can sign up one for free. We will review your online games.

* For Step 2, I suggest to buy Learning Chess Step 2, Step 2 extra, Step 2 plus Workbooks at the same time; similar for other Steps. You can order them from: https://www.chess-steps.com/webshop.php

Your child need get 80%, i.e. can have 4 wrongs in the 22/23 problem set, or 5 wrongs in the 24 problem set.
